Steven Thomas is a Patient & Visitor Relations Coordinator at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, NC. In this role, he oversees the visitation, safety, and welfare of individuals coming to see their loved ones who are attending appointments or surgeries at the facility. With over 35 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Mr. Thomas has been in his current role since relocating to Durham in 2018. Before moving to Durham, he worked in various healthcare facilities in West Coast cities such as Los Gatos, CA, and San Jose, CA.

Mr. Thomas brings a diverse background of experience in handling the public and strives to make uncomfortable situations as comfortable as possible through compassion and presence. Born in Queens, NY, he attended and graduated from the NYC Public School system. He began his career working at Bellevue Shelter for the homeless in 1986 and continued in the shelter system until relocating to California in 1991.

In his personal life, Mr. Thomas enjoys traveling, attending live sporting events, and concerts, as well as spending time with family and friends. He has a devoted life partner of 40 years and three adult children living in San Francisco, CA, Raleigh, NC, and Durham, NC.
